For many women and girls in Nigeria, reporting gender-based violence confidentially, and early enough for help to matter, remains out of reach. Hotlines, paper forms, and in-person reporting each bring their own barriers, from cost and literacy to the stigma of being seen asking for help.
With support from the NetHope Connected AI grant program, WGHEN built SafeVoice AI, a confidential reporting platform launched in Kaduna State in July 2026 and available on the web and as an Android app. It offers guided, anonymous reporting in English, Hausa, and Nigerian Pidgin, and referral to trained caseworkers and partner organizations, with a staff member reviewing every case.
