James Eaton-Lee

In partnership with Simprints, James is NetHope's virtual Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO). As vCISO, James leads on work housed in NetHope's Digital Protection Program, supporting Members with their Cyber Security, Privacy, and Responsible Data challenges through a mixture of interventions and service offerings.

James is Director of Privacy, Responsible Data, and Risk at Simprints, a non-profit building responsible biometric technology to solve development and humanitarian impact & data problems.

As Head of Information Security at at Oxfam from 2017 - 2021, he built a team of Cyber Security & Privacy professionals supporting multiple countries and Oxfam affiliates. At Oxfam, James worked on projects as wide-ranging as the security of Oxfam's O365 tenancies, Azure Cloud & Salesforce implementations, various humanitarian responses, biometric data collection, and in various crisis & incident management teams.

James ran Oxfam GB's GDPR program, acted as Data Protection Officer for Oxfam GB & Oxfam International & SRO for its PCI-DSS program.

Prior to Oxfam, James built the Cybersecurity team at Travelodge (UK), and at NCC Group/NGSSoftware worked from 2007-2016 as a Managing Consultant in the Security Testing, Audit & Compliance team.

At NCC, James delivered Penetration Testing, Technical Audit, and a range of other technical cybersecurity services and consulting engagements to a range of external customers, from Government and Law Enforcement to the Technology Sector, Retail and Finance.
