James Eaton-Lee

James is NetHope's Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). James leads NetHope's Digital Protection Program, which supports cybersecurity and data protection improvement across the sector and in particular supports NetHope's Members to be safe, responsible digital humanitarians, development and conservation actors.

James has worked in the development sector for 6 years and has 15 years of cybersecurity and data protection experience. James was previously Director of Privacy, Responsible Data, and Risk at Simprints, a nonprofit building responsible biometric technology to solve development and humanitarian impact & data problems.

At Oxfam, James was Head of Information Security and served as Data Protection Officer for Oxfam GB and International. He built cybersecurity and privacy programs at Oxfam, working on projects as wide-ranging as the security of Oxfam's O365 tenancies, various compliance programs, Azure Cloud & Salesforce implementations, various humanitarian responses, biometric data collection, and in various crisis & incident management teams.

Prior to Oxfam, James built the Cybersecurity team at Travelodge (UK), and at NCC Group/NGSSoftware worked from 2007-2016 as a Managing Consultant in the Security Testing, Audit & Compliance team.

At NCC, James delivered Penetration Testing, Incident Response, Technical Audit, and a range of other technical cybersecurity services and consulting engagements to a variety of external customers, from Government and Law Enforcement to the Technology Sector, Telecoms, Retail, and Finance.
