NetHope, a consortium of nearly 60 global nonprofits and tech partners, launches the NetHope Global Summit 2018, its largest ever event with more than 500 of the top global nonprofit and tech company leaders in attendance.
WHAT: With the theme, Digital Transformation: Its in our DNA, the Global Summit explores the fact that transformation is at the very core of what our member organizations do, whether its an NGO that brings new methods for teaching young children in poor rural areas, or companies that create groundbreaking technologies for how we do our work. These endeavors are increasingly possible, and at larger scales, because of the potential afforded by the promise and opportunities presented by digital technology.
WHEN/ WHERE: November 5-9, 2018. The Royal Dublin Society, Dublin, Ireland. Visit the NetHope Global Summit website.
DETAILS: Twelve keynote sessions will be open to the media. Two noted speakers include Gary Bolles, Chair for the Future of Work for Singularity University, lecturing and writing about the near future of work, learning, and the organization; and Kentaro Toyama, the W.K. Kellogg Associate Professor of Community Information at the University of Michigan School of Information, a fellow of the Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values at MIT, and author of Geek Heresy: Rescuing Social Change from the Cult of Technology.
Other sessions are designed for NetHope members only and tracks include topics such as AI for Good, Data Protection and Information Security, Blockchain for Nonprofits, and Collective Impact in Humanitarian Work.
On Tuesday, November 6, Lauren Woodman, CEO of NetHope, will make two announcements. She will announce new founding partners and their commitment to advancing The Center for the Digital Nonprofit. Current founding partners include: Microsoft, Okta, and Blackbaud. Additionally, NetHopes Center for the Digital Nonprofit will release the results of the Digital Nonprofit Skills Assessment* white paper. In early July 2018, The Center fielded the Digital Nonprofit Skills (DNS) assessment surveying more than 300 leaders of global nonprofits across 49 organizations with combined revenues amounting to over $20 billion USD annually. The results, captured in the white paper, provide a window into organizational and individual competencies. The survey was designed and fielded in collaboration with Humentum, and the white paper was sponsored by #ImpactCloud members, including Box, Docusign, Okta, Oracle NetSuite, Salesforce, Splunk, Tableau, Twilio, and Workplace by Facebook.
Also being announced on Tuesday will be the results of the election of new NetHope Board members, a new Board Chair, and the induction of a new NetHope nonprofit member.
HOW: A number of nonprofit CEOs, tech leaders, and the keynote speakers Gary Bolles and Kentaro Toyama will be available for interviews, in addition to NetHope CEO Lauren Woodman. *This Digital Nonprofit Skills (DNS) Assessment is the second white paper in a series of benchmarks established by NetHopes Center for the Digital Nonprofit that provide insight into the opportunities and challenges for transforming the nonprofit sector.
