Seattle, November 15, 2017 –  NetHope, a global consortium of the world’s leading nonprofits, recently announced that it had elected six new Board members, as well as a new Chairman of the Board. NetHope member representatives voted on the changes at the NetHope Global Summit in Vancouver, Canada, last month.

Jonathan Palmer was elected as NetHope’s Chairman of the Board. He has served on the NetHope Board for five years, most recently as its Secretary. Palmer is also the Executive Director for Strategic Technology for the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), one of the world’s leading conservation organizations. Palmer’s breadth of technology expertise, as well as his leadership experience in the nonprofit, private, and government sectors provide critical direction for NetHope’s Board.

“It’s an honor to follow in the footsteps of outgoing Chair, Vincent Richardson, and I will continue to ensure NetHope is governed to support the missions of its members in delivering compelling outcomes across the 150-plus countries where NetHope and its member organizations operate,” said Palmer. “The technology landscape has changed immensely since I began working in the nonprofit sector almost 30 years ago. Fifteen years ago, the challenge was getting connectivity to individual sites; now our leadership is pivotal in transforming sectors such as emergency response, health, conservation, and development. NetHope is a critical catalyst for so many technological changes, and it’s a pleasure to be elected as Chair for such a successful organization.”

Palmer is joined on the board by leaders from within the NGO community and the private sector. Included in this year’s class of new Board members are: Katharine Brown, Head of Global IT at VSO; Jon Curry, IT Director at WaterAid; Cynthia Currence, VP Marketing Development and Communications, Women for Women International; Farhan Irshad, Senior Vice President & CFO at HIAS; Eleanor Meyers, CIO at MedAir; and Richard Pichler, former Secretary General/CEO of SOS Children’s Villages.

“It is always important to have a strong, diversified Board of Directors, but particularly so as NetHope leads digital transformation throughout our membership, and throughout the NGO sector,” said Lauren Woodman, NetHope CEO. “This Board, led by Jonathan Palmer, is well-positioned to guide NetHope through this next phase of fostering and embracing what it means to be truly digital. It is a privilege to lead alongside such an experienced Board.”
