SEATTLE May 3, 2017 NetHope, a global consortium of the worlds leading nonprofits, today announced three new members, bringing its total membership to 53. Among the new members is The Carter Center, which was established in 1982 by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter to uphold human rights and alleviate human suffering.
The Carter Center is excited to be accepted as a member of NetHope, said Patti Bunker, Chief Information Technology Officer for The Carter Center. By partnering with NetHope, we believe we can accelerate the pace at which we deliver programming in some of the most technologically challenged areas of the world.
The Carter Center is a not-for-profit, nongovernmental organization that works to advance peace and health worldwide by resolving conflicts; advancing democracy and human rights; preventing diseases; and improving mental health care. The Center was founded in 1982 by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter.
For new members, joining NetHope means being part of a mission-driven group that collectively is committed to applying the promise of technology to the problems of humanity. Member organizations have access to technical expertise of the group to strengthen their organizational capacity and enhance their technology leadership through training, collaboration opportunities, and programs. They also receive support from technology and funding partners that share a commitment to using technology for good.
Its an honor to welcome The Carter Center to NetHope membership, said NetHopes CEO Lauren Woodman. The Carter Center is committed to using technology to help resolve conflicts, and most recently, in the fight to eradicate tropical diseases. The Carter Center will bring a valuable perspective to our NetHope community.
