Join the Journey
NetHope has explored the potential applications of Artificial Intelligence for the nonprofit sector since 2017, with foundational support from the Center for the Digital Nonprofit (CDN). During the NetHope Global Summit in October 2018, the first AI Primer was launched in collaboration with technology partners, marking a significant step toward understanding AI’s implications for humanitarian and development work. Since then, NetHope has been at the forefront of advancing the safe and responsible use of machine learning and AI in the nonprofit sector - addressing critical issues such as ethics, operational efficiency, and impact generation. As with other emerging areas of innovation, NetHope convened a dedicated Working Group with its Members in 2019 to identify shared priorities, document use cases and co-create practical guidance that ensures AI is implemented responsibly in humanitarian contexts. This collaborative approach, underpinned by CDN investment, continues to drive sector-wide learning and the development of tools that support ethical and effective AI adoption.
