As the Director of Membership, Alex oversees membership programs across seven Working Groups and the Global Chapters in Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America, Middle East, and North America. She also manages overall member engagement with CIOs and Regional IT leads for NetHope’s member organizations.
Alex’s career began in local and state politics in California which ultimately led her to work on numerous political campaigns, including Al Gore’s 2000 Presidential campaign. She has spent nearly 20 years working in the nonprofit sector, holding numerous roles such as Director of Membership and Volunteer Services at Mystic Seaport Museum, Policy Manager in the Office of Federal Policy at New York University, and as at teaching instructor of U.S. and Latin American Politics at the University of Connecticut.
She earned her B.A. in International Relations from the University of California Davis and her Master of Public Administration from New York University. Alex serves on the Board of the San Diego Maritime Museum and is dedicated to supporting refugee resettlement in San Diego as a volunteer. Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, Alex and now lives with her family in San Diego.
