Every 10 seconds, a child dies of severe acute malnutrition.

MANA Nutrition offers a ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) composed of peanut paste, milk, and a special mix of vitamins and minerals. Carefully formulated to meet a child's basic nutritional needs, MANA gives the world’s most at-risk children the boost they need to return to good health. Three servings of MANA a day for six weeks can save the life of a starving child.

To ensure MANA reaches the most children in need, it partners with some of the world's largest international aid organizations to distribute the food product. Thanks to their infrastructure and experience, MANA is able to send its therapeutic food where the need is greatest in the fastest way possible.

MANA Nutrition has been a NetSuite customer for more than seven years. By focusing on internal operational issues, MANA has been able to push its prices down over time, reducing costs and ensuring it could serve 20 percent more children per dollar. And over time, that's exactly the kind of result that a focus on internal operations can deliver.

As NetSuite and MANA have deepened their relationship, MANA has begun to shift its focus outward, to consider the vast web of networks it is part of, and the ways that combined organizations efforts could serve starving children.

In the Amazon model, products are shipped to where the customers are. In the case of serving starving children with life-saving RUTF, one can apply the same efficiency models used by retail and manufacturing specialists to make the process more effective, efficient, and successful.

Troy Hickerson is an entrepreneur and technologist whose background in technology startups and IT services has intersected with his passion to help end severe malnutrition. Troy joined MANA Nutrition in 2011 as part of the founding team. One of the first initiatives was to implement and ERP system to MANAge the entire manufacturing process which led to NetSuite. With a similar mission the team at MANA helped to launch Active For Good and UNICEF Kid Power, which converts people's physical activity into life-saving packets of RUTF.

Kate (Sharum) Daniels has divided her 14-year career between nonprofit work in sub-Saharan Africa and corporate sector Social and Environmental Responsibility. Today, Kate leads partnerships with International NGOs and Foundations on behalf of the Oracle NetSuite Social Impact team. After making South Africa her home for the last 13 years, Kate is now based in Denver, Colorado.
