The 2012 NetHope Global Member Summit is upon us! We are so excited to gather our membership and supporters in Redmond, Washington for the week to connect, collaborate and innovate to benefit the developing world. Our Summits serve as the annual opportunity for our 35 member organizations to send representatives to a hosted venue to collaborate, deepen existing and spark new partnerships, share lessons learned and get updated and engage on NetHope program developments.
This year, the theme ‘Mobilizing the Cloud’ will drive our meeting. The Summit is first and far most dedicated to offering time to meet face-to-face with those sharing a passion to bring technology to bear in addressing our world’s humanitarian challenges. We like to choose a theme we feel represents our current work and helps direct where we are going in the future. To guide our discussions, we’ll hear from our own Gisli Olafsson on Cloud in emergencies, Esri’s David Gadsden on the rise of the geospatial cloud and Accenture’s Jimmy Harris on building the Cloud business case. We’ll also spend various sessions learning about NetHope’s Cloud Services Portal, which will be featured Friday in an all-day session split between a working session as well as a design review.
Microsoft will be graciously hosting our event on their beautiful Redmond campus, providing us world-class meeting spaces for the entirety of our week. Our Summit participants will also visit the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for a half-day exploration of collaboration, technology and BMGF programming as well as a special session featuring our member organization PATH. We thank Microsoft, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, PATH and all of our Summit supporters for their help in making this Summit one to remember!
