We’re excited to share the latest case study in our series exploring how AI is transforming humanitarian action. This new addition highlights the Danish Refugee Council’s (DRC) innovative use of predictive analytics to forecast displacement trends and improve crisis response.
As forced displacement surpasses 120 million worldwide, DRC has developed AI-powered models—such as Foresight, AHEAD, and SPIN—to anticipate migration patterns and help humanitarian organizations prepare more effectively. These tools analyze key indicators, including conflict, climate, and socio-economic factors, enabling data-driven decision-making in regions like the Sahel and Somalia.
Our newest case study, published February 17th, delves into DRC’s journey with predictive analytics, with thanks to Alexander Kjærum and the DRC team for sharing their insights and learnings
As Artificial Intelligence (AI) is dramatically changing the world, the humanitarian sector needs to navigate a way forward that harnesses its potential to strengthen humanitarian practice while mitigating potential challenges and risks. NetHope is proud to be working with the UK Humanitarian Innovation Hub (UKHIH) to document and share case studies on the use of AI technologies to address the many challenges in the humanitarian sector. The intent is that they will serve as a resource for humanitarian organizations interested in implementing similar AI solutions, providing insights, lessons learned, and best practices for the benefit of these organizations and the overall sector.
